If you start doing something one way, and decide you don’t like it after all, you can stop and do something different, whereas a professional contractor may not be happy with snap decisions such as that, especially after work has already been done. You are in complete control when you are the one doing the work.

Keep in mind that most kitchen remodeling projects do take quite a bit of time to complete, and if you don’t have a lot of spare time, your kitchen could be in disarray for months, if you plan to do the work yourself. The work will take even longer if you don’t have a lot of remodeling experience. If you hire a contractor to do the job, then you will only have to put up with the clutter and confusion for a couple of weeks, so this is something you may want to think about. If you can’t handle your kitchen being upside down, then you may want to think about hiring a contractor.
